This car has a manual gear box and a standard
throttle valve activated by a Bowden cable.
(The actuator is made in accordance whith the first design. The new actuator will be
smaller and the electrical motor less powerful.).
The actuator is fixed
under the dashboard, above the accelerator pedal. It applies the force feedback by a short
cable and a arm interdependent of the pedal. The industrial product will be smaller and it
will find place easily in many vehicles, cars or trucks.
It is also possible to design an "active pedal ", with the
actuator, the pedal and the engine control potentiometer (electronic pedal) in the same
housing.
A same actuator can be designed for a lot of kind of vehicles, because
forces and displacements are similar. In case of a new multiplexed electronic
architecture, it will be a simple peripheral connected to the bus (CAN). The car
manufacturer can specify in the control program the specific behavior and ergonomic
characteristics of his Sensitive Accelerator. This program can be integrated into one of
electronic control units of the car (engine management, dashboard control...).
